Personally, Troy is a first-generation high school and first-generation college graduate from Jacksonville, Florida. He spent much of his youth reading in local libraries, attending preparatory schools, participating in extracurricular activities and leadership development programs. Envisioning a promising future for himself, he pursued personal and academic goals, which became the catalysts for self-determination, achievement, and life-long learning.
Professionally, Troy has served in integral roles with leading organizations like the Posse Foundation, KIPP, the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, the University of Maryland, and American University. His expertise spans program innovation, personal and career development, fundraising, strategic partnerships, grant compliance, and education leadership. He is especially proud of his entrepreneurial work in organizational development, capacity-building, and program design for nonprofits, government agencies, and educational institutions. His leading strength is strategic thinking, and is a thought-oriented leader.
Socially, Troy is a self-aware Renaissance gentleman with a deep appreciation for exposure and experiential learning. He believes the purpose of life is to connect with people from diverse backgrounds, increasing empathy and broadening cultural competency. His favourite pastime is thought-provoking intellectual conversations. Traveling is a joy; he has an affinity for metropolitan cities. In his downtime, you might find him at a museum exhibit, rooftop lounge, or visiting a local arboretum.
